2026 Canadian Iaido Association Seminar

We are pleased to announce the 29th ZNIR/CIA Iaido Seminar will be held in Victoria, BC, from September 11 to 13, 2026, at the North Saanich School Gymnasium in North Saanich (Victoria) British Columbia.

Visiting ZNIR Instructors:

Once again we warmly welcome two well known Sensei visiting from Japan.

Instructors
Tanida Hiroshi Sensei, 10th Dan Hanshi, ZNIR President of the Kantō region.
Itoh Takeji Sensei, 7th Dan, ZNIR Overseas Auditor of the Kantō region.
The ZNIR examination committee officials sent from Japan this year will be: Tanida Sensei and Itoh Sensei.

Schedule and Cost

The times are approximate and may change. Please plan for going over time on Saturday and Sunday.

Accommodations:

If you need help finding accommodations, please let us know. Staying closer to North Saanich Middle School would probably be the easiest, the locations you should look for are Sidney, North Saanich, Brentwood Bay. Public transportation to North Saanich Middle school will likely be difficult but BC Transit works with most maps apps to provide times and schedules. If you are having difficulty finding accommodations, please contact us. If you need assistance with transportation, please also contact us.

There may be AirBNBs in the area, look in the “North Saanich”, “Sidney” and “Brentwood Bay” area for Victoria BC.

Other visiting Iaidoka have also recommended some hotels downtown Victoria, the distance is however approximately 30 minutes from the practice location.
