Canadian Iaido Association Presidential Succession

During the last seminar, Denton Hewgill Sensei appointed Chris Tooley Sensei as the next Canadian Iaido Association President.

During the Canadian Iaido Association Seminar, on the 14th of September, 2025, in front of all attending and during a small official ceremony, Denton Hewgill Sensei, the 2nd President of the Canadian Iaido Association, presented to Chris Tooley Sensei the three artifacts of the CIA, officially appointing Chris Tooley Sensei as the 3rd President of the Canadian Iaido Association. As his first act, Chris Tooley Sensei named Eric Dunning Sensei as his Vice President, in recognition of his stalwart and capable support throughout the years. Chris Tooley also expressed a desire to make Iaido strong in Canada and to work together with all ZNIR practitioners. He also wished to reiterate a spirit of cooperation and selfless practice.

After the appointment of Tooley Sensei as President, Denton Hewgill Sensei officially takes up the mantle of Honorary President. Everyone in the CIA is grateful for his many years of selfless service and wish him the best in his retirement.
