2018 Annual Summer Seminar

The 25th annual ZNIR/CIA Summer Iaido Seminar will be held in Victoria, BC, from May 25 to May 27, 2018, at the Lochside School in beautiful Victoria British Columbia.

Visiting ZNIR Instructors:

This year, we again have the spectacularly good fortune of very high ranking and well known Sensei visiting from Japan.

Main Instructors
Kato Haruo Sensei, 10th Dan Hanshi, ZNIR Vice President and President of the Kanto region.
Tanida Hiroshi Sensei, 10th Dan Hanshi, Head of ZNIR Secretary Bureau and Head of Chiba division.

Deputy Instructor
Itoh Takeji Sensei, Renshi, ZNIR Kansayaku Overseas Surveillance Auditor of the Kanto region.

The ZNIR examination committee officials sent from Japan this year will be: Kato Sensei, Tanida Sensei, and Itoh Sensei.

Tentative Times and Fees, please be ready to practice at these times:

Sunday, May 27 9:30AM – 12:00PM 12:00PM – 1:00PM Shinsa (testing) will begin at 1:30PM and end at approximately 3:30PM $100CAD

The Howard Johnson is located quite close to the highway so making it to the location of the seminar will be quick work. It is also one of the newer hotels in Victoria, so the facilities are quite clean and comfortable.

Another option might be AirBNB for the “Royal Oak” area for Victoria BC.

Other visiting Iaidoka also recommend some hotels downtown

To sign up for a dan test, as long as you have permission from your sensei, please visit the 2018 Dan Registration page

As a reminder, please note that each person is responsible for his or her own safety at the seminar, but we would ask that you pay attention to your surroundings and practice safe dojo etiquette.
